WhatsApp To Launch Customer-Business Chat Feature

WhatsApp is introducing a new feature that will allow businesses to communicate directly with their customers. The new WhatsApp cloud API promises to offer a more personalized business experience. It uses an API (application programming interface) that allows two apps to communicate with each other.

For Instance, a customer can click on “customer service” on a company’s website and automatically be redirected to a WhatsApp conversation.

Meta’s chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg said the new feature would help companies customize their customer’s experience. “The best business experiences meet people where they are; already, more than one billion users connect with a business account across our messaging services every week,” he said at the announcement of the new service.

Now, Businesses will be able to build a customized dashboard to chat with clients and offer customer services more efficiently. Although this new feature is free for small businesses, Meta will generate revenue by charging big companies per message.

In 2014, when Meta bought WhatsApp for $19bn, It said businesses would be required to request contact before they could message individuals on WhatsApp.

In addition, WhatsApp said it plans to provide optional paid features and services for businesses as part of its new premium services. These features, which are currently being designed, will include but are not limited to managing chats on up to 10 devices and click-to-chat links that businesses can share with customers.
