Smartphones have almost replaced the need for personal assistants due to numerous intelligent features. iPhone 14 is one of such smartphones that offers automated security features aside from its long battery life.
The new iPhone 14 line offers Emergency SOS Via Satellite with the aid of an inbuilt Qualcomm Inc chip that connects to the satellite and sends emergency messages even without a WiFi or data connection.
The Qualcomm chip can function with the frequency band (n53) used by Globalstar satellites. The American satellite communication company Global star offered Apple an 85% satellite network feature in Apple devices.
However, Apple did not reveal the proprietary hardware of the device but stated that there are additional components of hardware and software in the messaging feature, including a custom radio frequency component.
The emergency SOS via satellite is an innovative solution to overcome communication errors due to inactive cell service or poor network coverage with the use of a Qualcomm X65 modem chip that further provides 5G connectivity.
One of the tremendous importance of this feature is the crash detection ability and the automated action help that ensures it calls the local emergency line and notifies saved emergency contacts when a serious car crash is detected.
This is more like any personal assistant who would be conscious at the scene of an accident. Apple’s new devices detect a car crash in several ways; a sharp g – force accelerometer up to 256G’s, detecting drastic pressure change, an abrupt change in car’s directions, and loud sound collision detection.
One would have been doubtful of the accident detection ability of the iPhone 14 model emergency messaging feature if the tech developers had not designed an advanced motion algorithm to perform different car crash tests using crash data from real-world accidents.
The composite of the two features is certainly not a disadvantage to its user since it serves to save in case of any accident eventuality.
