Tron (TRX) CEO, Justin Sun, steps down from the role effective Friday 17 December 2021. He is assuming the role of an ambassador of the Grenada government to the World Trade Organization (WTO). The 31-year-old Chinese American tech entrepreneur created Tron blockchain in 2018 and the network has grown fast.
Tron’s spokesperson confirmed Sun won’t be paid for this position. He also added that one of Sun’s goals is to represent and make blockchain mainstream by bringing it to the global political arena via the WTO.
What is TRX?
TRONIX is a MainNet token based on the TRON Protocol issued by TRON Foundation, known as TRX. TRX is the basic unit of accounts on the TRON blockchain. The value of all other tokens derives from that of TRON. TRX is also a natural medium currency for all TRC-based tokens. TRX connects the entire TRON ecosystem, with abundant application scenarios that power transactions and applications on the chain.
In his open letter, Sun said that the Tron Foundation will dissolve by next year and three super nodes associated with him have retired from Tron’s technical grid this week. The 27 super representatives on the Tron blockchain will be elected by the Tron community.
Tron is known for low transaction costs and faster speed. It’s the leading home of the tether (USDT) stablecoin.
According to Sun, Grenada has a lot of advantages for blockchain-related businesses. The country has a good education system that could help train the next generation of blockchain developers. He further added that a successful legitimization of blockchain in Grenada could spur the United States and China to pursue the technology with more vigor, thus promoting a general adoption. Crypto training and mining is banned in China, while the U.S. is still looking for better regulation with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
