What Has Elon Musk Done With Twitter So Far?

After long months of legal contention, Twitter’s finally run by the world’s richest man – CEO of Tesla Inc. and Space X, Elon Musk, after a down payment of $44 billion.

On resumption as the new CEO, Elon Musk took administrative actions, firing top executives, including Parag Agrawel, Twitter’s former CEO, claiming he gave misleading information about fake accounts on the social media platform to investors.

Elon made plain his intentions for the tech media platform; although his plans may be anti-twitter’s current policy, his administrative style seem to cast doubt on the minds of many, suggesting that the long years of reputable political content and abuse-free tweet the company has long sustained may soon be eroded as the new CEO plans to subvert the lifelong prohibition of offenders on the platform.

This suggests that former US president, Donald Trump might be allowed to use his Twitter account once again since the former management of Twitter suspended Donald Trump’s account claiming to avoid “risk of further incitement of violence” after a political post by the former president.

Elon Musk shared his reason for acquiring the giant tech network in a quote – “The reason I acquired Twitter is that it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence.”

Elon stated that the social media platform would not become a “free-for-all hellscape” where malicious tweets would not attract any penalty.

European regulators have emphasized that companies who fail to manage misfitting content on their platforms would be taxed with heavy fines, reiterating that social tech companies must abide by the Digital Services Acts.

The new CEO further debunked the widespread rumor of reducing the workforce by 25% so as to double his revenue within three years of ownership. While this may not be true, he has incited the social media space with his plan to charge $20 monthly for account verification; this may imply that the feature may be limited to the elite, and this will no doubt create some level of schism or prejudice among users.

However, the successful entrepreneur beat down the blue tag verification fee to $8 per month. According to him, this category of users would enjoy several benefits, such as reply priority in messaging, mentions, and searches.

He further stated that the feature would now enable the Twitter network to reward content creators and support reader mode for publishers. In addition to the benefits, blue tag users would be able to post long videos and audio. Elon Musk also plans to enable birthdate verification before users can view sensitive content.

A key question to consider is whether there is any authentic verification for users’ actual birthdates across the globe. As events unfold, what next do you expect on the Twitter platform?
