How To Turn Off Instagram Feed Suggestions

In recent times Instagram has come under a lot of criticism for making changes in its design and algorithm in a bid to become more like Tiktok.

One major thing users have intensely expressed their displeasure about is the number of recommendations that pop up on their main feed. The Meta-owned company, in July 2022, reacted to these criticisms, saying it would temporarily reduce the number of recommended posts that pop up while working to improve its personalization tools. However, these suggested posts will eventually increase and be more personalized to users’ interests.

Nonetheless, if you would rather not have recommended posts pop up on your IG main feed while you scroll, here’s how to turn it off for 1 Month.

  1. Scroll through your main IG feed until you encounter a “recommended post.”
  2. Tap the X at the top right corner; then you will see a text confirming that the specific post has been hidden and a drop-down tab with more options.
  3. From the options listed, click on “snooze all suggested posts in the feed for 30 days.”
  4. Once that is done, a green checkmark will appear, with confirmation that your feed won’t contain suggested posts for the next 30 days.

Note that suggested posts are not the same as ads, which will remain in your main feed after you’ve completed these steps. On the brighter side, these steps will help reduce the amount of content from sources you don’t follow.

Also, remember that you can now sort your feed chronologically by tapping the Instagram logo at the upper left of your screen and clicking on Following.
