Samsung released its new Galaxy S23 series this month, and at the top of the pyramid is the Samsung Galaxy S23 ultra.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra may look identical to its predecessor, which can be a complete design turnoff, but there are undoubtedly many other reasons why people will want to purchase the $1,200 smartphone.
Here is a review of the latest Galaxy S23 phone.
Display | 6.8 inch AMOLED Display 120 HZ refresh rate Snap Dragon Gen 2 chip |
Battery | 5000 Mah 45 Watt charging port |
Software | Samsung One UI 5.1, Android 13 |
Design | Gorrila Glass Victus frame Reduced screen curve |
Storage | 256 GB 512 GB 1 TB |
Camera | 200 MP main camera 50 MP rear camera 12 MP selfie camera |
Display
The S23 Ultra has the same 6-by-8-inch dynamic AMOLED display and 1200 nits of maximum brightness in high brightness mode (HBM), and 1750 nits of peak brightness as the S22 Ultra. It also has an adaptive refresh rate of 120 HZ. Driving that display is the Snap Dragon Gen 2 chip.
Design
The S23 Ultra is not a big boost from the S22 design, which makes it not very exciting as it still has a rectangular shape and a five-camera position. But they were able to reduce the screen curve to make the corners more solid. There is a slight change in the gorilla glass Victus 2 frame. All in all, Samsung has made a minor decision without changing the overall look of the phone. Samsung is making a big deal about making green products, as the S23 has parts made from recycled water bottles and fishing nets.
Storage
The S23 ultra storage is regarded as the fastest storage chip in the world and has more storage as the base level phone of 128GB has been upgraded to a new base storage of 256GB, and other options are the 512GB and 1TB Space.
Software
The S23 Ultra runs on Samsung One UI 5.1, based on Android 13. With the software, you get a routine match that can trigger actions based on your daily routine. With this phone, Samsung has also set a standard with four generations of operating system updates to ensure a better Galaxy experience, meaning the S23 Ultra will be able to support up until Android 17.
Camera
The S23 Ultra has an upgraded 200 MP Main camera added to the existing camera line, making it more possible to take quality and cleaner pictures by adding needed light to pictures. There is also a newly launched “Astro” mode that optimizes making starry sky photos. There is also a 50 MP rear camera attached to the main camera. The selfie camera has been downgraded to 12 MP from the 32 MP of the S22 Ultra.
Battery
Although the size of the phone battery is still 5000 mah, it has been tested to last up to 90 hours even better than the S22 Ultra. It has a 45-watt fast-charging USB PD PPS that takes 60 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%.
Speakers
Although there is not much of an upgrade to the speaker, the base is just louder. It also supports Dolby Atmos sound enhancement, which can be turned on from the phone’s settings.
