Mercedes-Benz Partners With Google

Several automobile manufacturers are incorporating modern software in car designs. The German-owned automobile company, Mercedes-Benz joins the community of car manufacturers to make vehicles smarter.

The company’s partnership with Google would produce cars enabled with Google cloud’s artificial intelligence, data and operational infrastructure solutions, allowing car designs with computer interfaces and operating systems.

When successfully done, Mercedes-Benz would emerge as the first automobile company to have its own customized navigation system, which operates using generated in-car data and Google map services.

With the aid of Google software technologies, Mercedes-Benz cars would have detailed real-time information about places and traffic. In addition to this, the package would feature automatic rerouting and would also be able to predict traffic with the aid of an AI tool built into the Mercedes-Benz operating system (MB.OS).

Future Mercedes-Benz cars would automatically adjust speed by predicting their closeness to intersections, roundabouts or curves as it depends on the inbuilt Google map software for data.

The CEO of Mercedes-Benz, Ola Kallenius, expressed his confidence in Google’s global geospatial services. He said, “It will be deeply integrated within our signature Mercedes-Benz user interface and fully connected to relevant vehicle functions like the state-of-charge.”

Drivers can take advantage of the upgraded infotainment car system with the YouTube App. Here’s what Google CEO, Sundar Pichai says: “Our partnership with Mercedes-Benz brings advanced technologies from the Google Maps platform, cloud and YouTube to help create a new experience for drivers.”

Google aims to leverage the partnership to provide sufficient AI and data, enhance sustainability efforts, improve autonomous driving, and create a rich customer experience. Mercedes-Benz has also agreed with Luminar Technologies Inc. to integrate self-driving sensors in its future cars. Car manufacturers like General Motors, Renault, Nissan and Ford have added Google services in their cars, including virtual assistants.

With its YouTube-supported feature, the level 3 autonomous driving feature would enable the vehicle to control itself, allowing drivers to do less driving. Drivers can as well take control of the car when necessary.

Mercedes-Benz partnership with Google is a product improvement plan to compete with Tesla Motors; Tesla Inc. has software-powered features with autonomous driving. Do you think Mercedes-Benz can beat Tesla? Besides market competition, do you think this automobile innovation would produce the best drivers?
