The iPhone 14 Series And Its Performance So Far

The iPhone 14 lineup released in early September 2022 came with many prospects and new features. The latest Apple mobile phone has been in use worldwide for over three months now. In case you are considering getting one, here are the pros and cons of the iPhone 14.

PROS

Dynamic Island

The dynamic “hole punch” notch is creative and helps with user interaction as it is not just an aesthetic improvement that fits perfectly into various features such as Face ID, music, etc.

Satellite Connectivity

If you have your iPhone 14 with you and your network is unavailable, you can send messages directly via the satellite orbiting the earth, making SOS in areas outside the network’s range possible.
Note: You can only do things that require small amounts of data, such as using emergency services and sharing your location.

Battery Life

The iPhone 14 lineup has an improvement in battery life.

Phone Battery Capacity Audio PlaybackVideo Playback
iPhone 14         3,279 mAh80 hoursUp to 20 hours
iPhone 14+4,325 mAh100 hoursUp to 26 hours
iPhone 14 Pro3,200 mAh75 hoursUp to 23 hours
iPhone 14 Pro Max4,323 mAh75 hoursUp to 29 hours
Performance

With the introduction of the A16 Bionic chipset, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are fast, especially for gaming and video coverage.

Display and Camera Upgrade

The front-facing camera has a 12 MP true-depth camera that has 38% light improvement but still does not feel good as the camera does not produce high-quality pictures as was advertised. The rear camera was also upgraded. There is also a new brightness level of up to 2000 nits, which is the highest brightness level ever recorded on a smartphone. The pro version has a 48-megapixel rear camera incorporated into an adaptive flash.

CONS

Wide feature gap with the 14 Pro

All the best new features are being offered to people buying the 14 Pro versions, creating a divide in its user base as the Pro has more fun features like the Digital Island, Always-On display, and the most camera upgrades.

Design

The iPhone 14 design is almost identical to the 13 lineups; the notch is still a polarising design element, and the only major design upgrade is the camera. Although we know that Apple is quite comfortable with the current design, a design upgrade would have been an amazing boost.

Camera

As much as the new camera dynamics look great on paper, the camera enhancements still aren’t as huge as Apple suggested they will be when the phones were tested.

Users are usually indecisive when it comes to the iPhone 14 lineup, asking questions like, “Is the phone worth the price?” or “which is a better phone, the iPhone 14 or the Samsung S22”? especially the fact that there is a gap in features between the 14 and 14+ compared to the Pro and Pro Max versions.
