Trump Recovers Major Social Media Accounts

The former US president has made a return to Facebook and YouTube. The social media giants have lifted their ban on the billionaire just ahead of his 2024 White House run.

YouTube sent out an official statement stating that:
They have carefully considered the potential for violence while balancing the opportunity for voters to hear equally from key national candidates in the lead-up to an election. So, therefore, YouTube has decided that the Donald J. Trump channel is no longer banned and can publish new content.

Donald Trump was banned from mainstream social media more than two years ago, during the January 6th Capitol Riots, for violating these platforms’ strict policy on inciting violence. The former president marked his return to Facebook with a video accompanied by the caption, “I’m Back.”

In November of last year, his Twitter ban, along with that of American rapper Kanye West, was lifted; his Facebook and Instagram account bans were lifted earlier this year following the petition from Trump’s campaign administration. Meta stated, however, that his accounts will be subjected to heightened penalties if he violates any of their security and content policies.

Donald Trump has a large following across his social media platforms. He has 87.4 million followers on Twitter, 34 million followers on Facebook, 23.4 million followers on Instagram, and 2.6 million YouTube subscribers. Trump is gaining control over his major social media platforms, and the reinstatement will play a vital role in reaching voters and raising funds as he continues his 2024 presidential campaign.

Although the former president is not clear of scandals, there is an indictment looming against him in connection to an alleged hush money payment. Although no charges have been filed yet, precautionary meetings are taking place. The former president and presidential aspirant has indicated that his presidential run will go on even if he is charged.

Donald Trump now has all the social media tools he needs to drive his presidential campaign. But do you think social media’s reach will change the outcome of the 2024 elections? Share your opinions in the comments.
