Trump’s Social Media Barred From Google Playstore

Earlier this year, the former president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, launched his social media App called Truth Social.

Trump had previously announced the App in 2021 following his ban from Twitter and Facebook, saying that the App would be a way to stand up to the tyranny of big tech.

Although this vision seems to be collapsing following the Apps’ recent ban from the Google Play store. Thus, it will not be available for Android device users.

The App was created mainly to promote free speech and had really great prospects when it was released in February. However, it didn’t have many unique features to distinguish it from other social media platforms.

It was the number 1 app on the Apple Play store for more than two days as more than 85,000 users signed up in just 3 hours after its release.

Truth CEO Devin Nunez announced that the App’s Android version was developed in early August and was waiting for Google approval to be deployed to the Google Play store, but this approval was denied by Google, stating that the App had some content moderation issues.

Google explained the reason for this through their spokesperson, which said, On August 19, “we notified Truth Social of several violations of standard policies in their current app submission and reiterated that having effective systems for moderating user-generated content is a condition of our terms of service for any app to go live on Google Play.”

Google is also worried about the platform allowing cyber violence, such as cyber threats, hate speech, targeted violence, etc.

Suppose the platform does not adhere to Google’s terms and conditions, they risk losing access to a large percentage of the audience, as over 44% of smartphone users in the US alone use the Google Play store to download Apps.

Apart from being barred, the App has also been going through some internal issues as it has stopped paying its vendors and also owes the web hosting company $1.6 million.

They are also facing an insider trading and trademark lawsuit. The company also faces a severe lack of engagement and a lack of availability.

With all of these happening in just a short time, what do you think about Truth Social as an app and a franchise?

Is it going to stand the test of time and rise above all the setbacks, or is the App heading for certain doom?
