Snapchat is a multimedia messaging application. It is a platform that enables its users to share memories with family and friends by just taking a photo or video and sending it as a snap or streak. It is the fastest way to share moments, and it is available for both Android and iOS devices.
Snapchat revealed in an announcement that there would be a new update from the 23rd of February 2022, which is the most requested feature by Snapchat users. Users who have opened a Snap account earlier using funny names are excited about this. Same as users who would like to change their usernames for personal reasons.
This feature was not enabled for users earlier because of security reasons.
The new update would also have parental control and guidance features for users of the app between the ages of 13 and 18. The quick add feature will also have restrictions so that the adults can contact the minors.
This update will be good news to content creators on the app, as Snapchat is working on a method for Creators to earn more money. But first, they would have to apply for the “Snap Star Distinction.” Although, the feature is already available for some snap content creators in the United States.
How To Change Snapchat Username
- You have to be an existing user of the app with a valid username
- Tap on the Bitmoji icon at the top left corner to go to the profile screen
- Click on the gear icon
- Click on username and then select change username
- You can now change your username
Note that you can only change your username once a year. A username that has been used before, either by you or someone else, cannot be used again.
During the announcement, it was also added that changing your username will not affect your snap score, memories, or snap code.
