Twitter To Share Ad Revenue With Content Creators

The social media giant, Twitter, has decided to share revenue with content creators.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk confirmed the move on Friday 3rd of February: “Starting today, Twitter will share ad revenue with creators for ads that appear in their reply threads. To be eligible, the account must be a subscriber to Twitter Blue Verified.”

When Musk took over as CEO of Twitter, he was interested in new ideas for Twitter; over time, he became interested in creators, and the decision to start paying content creators must be the effect of his numerous inquiries.

The idea of creators posting and getting paid for it will directly or indirectly increase engagement on Twitter, For a creator who can take part in this ad revenue sharing, the content creator must take note of some conditions attached.

  • The content creator must be a Twitter blue member.
  • The ad revenue share only applies to ads in their Twitter replies.
  • It is only an ad revenue share, and it will fluctuate depending on the creator and the ads.

Elon Musk is interested in immersing creators into the Twitter space; he has shown signs in recent times, and the best way to achieve this might not only be with threads but also videos.

He confirmed that when he wrote a reply to Mr Beast (the top content creator on YouTube), saying, “Let’s see what happens when Twitter offers good videos with higher compensation for creators.” The revenue-sharing scheme gave YouTube a great deal of attractiveness and made it the best video streaming platform it is today.

The details of how the ad revenue is going to be shared is still not clear. Is it going to be a post per click-share, or will creators have a specific percentage per ad? Which makes it difficult to evaluate how good a deal this is from Twitter. Overall, do you think the ad revenue share is a good idea on Twitter? Let us know what you think in the comments.
